Dear Friends,
New ideas for the 2010, from Timothy Mew,
Any others??  If you feel that something is left out, and you would like it to be included in the 2010 agenda of the Association, do not hesitate, write.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeNy5-tQYpM, played by Glen Evelyn, bravo!!!!
Those who were Scouts, enjoy these photos, to be sent out one by one, during 2010.
Maybe we will have a look at the collections that other Scouts have been hiding??

Abbey School Rings
From: Nigel P. Boos
Tim,
An interesting idea, which might gain support from some of the OB's.
Worth considering.
Laz,
What do you think? It's an interesting thought from Tim Mew (Australia).
My own comments:
I do not wear jewellery, normally, and I restrict myself to my wedding ring and a gold chain my father left for me, with a religious medal attached.
Therefore, I am quite passive on the idea.
I can see myself getting involved with pursuing OB's for monies for rings, lotsa emails, etc., and having gone through the "Dalmatic Fund" commess, I'm not keen on trying to collect funds again.
Someone else can try, with my blessings.

Happy New Year.
May you and family have a truly wonderful 2010.
I have an idea which I would like to pass across you two guys first and then if accepted in principle, we may be able to take it further for broad approval.
I was thinking that for those MSB students who were interested, a ring featuring the Abbey School could be designed.
If worn everyone we met by purpose, accident or sheer co-incidence could recognise we were from various classes of Mt. St. Benedict.
Most universities have such a ring and if made of gold [14 ct] it could last a lifetime and be passed on to our children as a memento of our school days.
What do you think?
If it is too difficult in your opinion we could shelve it.
However if and once we gained substantial acceptance from students, who would like to have and wear such a ring, we could then decide on the design and where to make it etc.
Some new thoughts for 2010 which may bring us closer together in a different way.
Ring in the New Year.

I am so sorry to hear of Walter's death, Peter.
I met him once, when my brother, Fr. John Boos W.F., was returning to Trinidad after his first 5 years stint in Burkina Faso as a missionary priest.
My parents lived at Maracas Valley and my mom decided to put on a huge luncheon (1100 guests) to raise funds for his work.
I had to erect a lot of scaffolding for various booths, and Walter very kindly loaned us the scaffolding for the venture.
A very nice man, to be sure.
Please accept my sincere sympathy at the loss of your brother.
But thank God for our faith.
We believe that he has gone to God now, and he has successfully completed his time on earth.
May he rest in peace.

Hi Nigel,
Just a quick note to let you know that my brother Walter Darwent died in Trinidad on Saturday the 19th December after a very long fight against cancer.
Walter was at the Mount in the 1940s.
Best regards,
 Peter

From the EDITOR:
This is a very lamentable news.
For the Circular it is sad to convey the news, we never got a photo or even a line from him, although he was on our list for several years.
I am sorry that he never acknowledged any of our requests and his file remains empty.
I would like to ask Peter Darwent for a short resume, and maybe a photo, for posterity.

KNIGHTS  ON THE OCEAN. (Tales of the Knights, from "White Stones")
So how deep, are depths of our oceans ??  Very deep.
See after the Mount, many Knights ventured for the offshore jobs, that took them around the world, to the most dangerous places on the great big seas, in their search for destiny.
Their quest, for that easy carefree feeling, they once had when they lived in their Castle on that mountain, on an island in the sun, was now gone.
Everything changed after the knights arrival on the Flat Lands, life was never quite the same.
They kept on searching, for some, more than 30 yrs, without contact, but by some strange happenings faith or something, out of nowhere, somehow, they all found their way back, right here and right now to the Realm in this present time in the month of April, in the year 2009.
Now explain that one to me, my imaginary friends, as we enter this private, invisible time zone of ours, with only Limited Lifetime Membership, you had to be there, to be here.
Legend has it, that on a certain date of a full moon night, "White Stones" glows like Crystals, and its the only time you will see, the Eagles dance in the sky to the Knights delight.
We are from all boarders, governed by no one, with respect to all justice and laws.
In every country all over the world you will find a Knight, as they all stand as one, in their sacred, secret circle of the Realm.
Under the Golden Sun, Since 1942-1986.
May the Light be with you my brothers, where the Eagles fly.
From the House of St. Francis, the Lion's den, lived this member of Parrot Troop.
Born Aug.9th, 1956 at Parks Nursing Home Gordon street, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.

Glen,
I'm sorry.
I'm much too busy to undertake yet another project.
And based on the very poor response to the Dalmatic Fund Project which I'm experiencing, I'd rather NOT attempt to get the OB's of MSB interested in this new idea.
Best wishes to you. I hope you can get many others interested.

Subject: The Abbey MSB Book
Dearest Mounties and brothers,
If you would like a bit of "de ja vous" (was never good at French or patua); you would all relish the Historic and interesting book put out as a popular guide for all, by the Abbey.
It gently covers all the 'personal relics' (people, places and happenings) of our yester years; especially for those who walked (or drove) through the "Pax" portals of the Benedictine Tranquillity sitting like a monument above the clouds, in the mountains.
But, being the effervescent urchins of that time, we sadly labelled it "Prison on the Hill"; yet, for me and a great majority of the others of my time, we relished the exposure and balance of all varied activities that were offered to us, and so create better citizens of us all.
Yet, the assorted multitudes of people who sought and ventured up the Mountain (the majority on foot, until they got the mini-vans); received and graciously accepted the blessings and healings, and thus were soothed and moved by the Holy Spirit.
Jesus became a part of their lives (humble or elegant) as they prayed (with and for each other, and self).
They became much better individuals, but most of all coasted "down the hill" with an uplifting and new vision of our God (our light and guidance).
I beg to strongly suggest that each one of you make special efforts to obtain a copy, as I got mine two years ago from Abbot John, when I flew (and I was never an Angel) through Trinidad on a trip to Barbados.
The title is :- THE ABBEY - Mount St Benedict,  by Mark Tierney, O.S.B.
Published in 2005 by Prospect Press
It is an absolutely and rewarding exposure to far more than just The School, but enhances the dedication, foresight, and just plain hard work and determination that the Benedictines did to spread Our Faith throughout this wonderful exciting World.
There are far more good people in the World than bad.
Let us not allow all those deadly sins prevail.
It is why we were placed on this Earth.
Fight (don't kill) just love and care for your brothers in Christ.
He who hesitates is lost.
Don't just think about it, just buy it.
As always,
Art
